01. What did you do in 2007 that you'd never done before?

Started my first "real" job.

02. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?

I don't think I had any resolutions last year, I'm not sure if I'll make any this year either.

03. Did someone close to you give birth?

Not exactly - someone not super-close to me gave birth and that was pretty cool, I was sort of involved from afar.

04. Did anyone close to you die?

No.

05. What countries did you visit?

Sadly only the US - although I did quite a bit of traveling this year. I went to Maryland Sheep & Wool with Rachel and down to the Philly Knittyhead Meetup and visited Christina. And of course the obligatory trips to Seattle every so often.

06. What would you like to have in 2008 that you lacked in 2007?

This is really hard for me - 2007 was actually a year that brought a lot of changes for the better, but I guess I'll say love since it was also a year of perpetual single-ness. Which I don't mind, really, but it's nice to have someone too.

07. What date from 2007 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?

Well, since I can't think of any I guess none. ;) Sock camp was pretty awesome and it happened to be over my birthday so that's a date that's easy to remember.

08. What was your biggest achievement(s) of the year?

Getting a job and pulling myself out of the sad slump that was my life at the end of 2006.

09. What was your biggest failure(s)?

Actually I think I did pretty well this year.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?

Nothing significant.

11. What was the best thing you bought?

Hmm... sock camp? The iPod nano? A new laptop? I guess I bought kind of a lot this year!

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?

My friends were really good to me this year, especially very early in the year when I was having some tough times.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?

One person, but since I just excised her from my life it's not really worth mentioning.

14. Where did most of your money go?

Rent, as always. Other than that probably travel.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?

Sock camp! And it was awesome!

16. What song(s) will always remind you of 2007?

Sorrow ~ Flyleaf and Rusted Wheel ~ Silversun Pickups. Both of them were bands introduced to me by [livejournal.com profile] grateblue2 and both were songs that got stuck in my head at significant times.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
I. happier or sadder?

MUCH happier!

II. thinner or fatter?

I think about the same

III. richer or poorer?

richer

IV. older or wiser?

both

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?

I wish I'd done more spinning, honestly. I kind of neglected my spinning wheel this year. (Yes, I know now all my friends are going to laugh at me.)

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?

Wallowing? I'd say working except I like money and it was relatively rewarding on an accomplishment level as well.

20. How did you spend Christmas?

I spent it in Salem with my mom, [livejournal.com profile] meli88 and two of her friends/roommates. Then we ended the day in Portland by going to Starbucks and realizing that there was some sort of burning spark on the power line by Melanie's house so she had to call PGE.

21. Did you fall in love in 2007?

Nope! (I tried, honestly, and there was this kinda brief period of infatuation that never ended in anything.)

22. How many one-night stands?

Zero, as always.

23. What was your favorite TV program?

Pushing Daisies

24. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?

No, I try not to waste my time and energy on hating people. Instead I just stop thinking of them.

25. What was the best book you read?

The Time Traveler's Wife

26. What was your greatest musical discovery?

I tend to just listen to my iPod which doesn't lend itself to new music discoveries so I guess Silversun Pickups.

27. What did you want and get?

A Timbuk2 bag! I promised myself one years ago and never actually bought it but then when thinking about what I wanted for Christmas I realized that I wanted a Timbuk2 laptop bag so my mom chipped in.

28. What did you want and not get?

A million dollars? A house? Really I am content with material possessions.

29. Favorite film of this year?

Oh, now that is hard! I guess Stardust since I loved the book, but The Golden Compass was also awesome, and I saw Pan's Labyrinth for the first time this year... And Atonement was very good, and I just saw Sweeney Todd which was also really good...

30. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?

This year I turned 25 and I was at sock camp, which was a really cool way to spend my birthday. I knit socks and such.

31. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?

A million dollars! A house! Oh, um... someone good to share it with.

32. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2007?

Ha.

(I was going to explain that, but let's just stick with "Ha.")

33. What kept you sane?

My friends and knitting, as always.

34. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?

Well, no one really, but I did see Casey Affleck in the movie-with-the-really-long-title about Jesse James and thought he was supercute. And evil.

35. What political issue stirred you the most?

I guess the upcoming elections, although I don't know that you could call that an "issue".

36. Who do you miss?

Well, Robb made a reentry into my life late in the year so I don't have to miss him anymore. Around the holidays I always miss family members who are no longer here.

37. Who was the best new person you met?

I actually didn't meet all that many new people - Rakhee from work is pretty cool. I have to spend all day with her five days a week so I'm very glad that I like her.

Sadly, although I met a few awesome people this year, I didn't really make any new friends. :(

38. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2007:

That, as summed up by the lyric below, life rarely goes the way you plan it. That even though I may have diverged from the path that I always thought my life would take what is really important is that I'm happy.

39. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:

If I could find you
And tell you about my life
Or maybe just write
And remind you of when we would dream...
Of where we would be when the future comes
And how you would paint while I wrote my songs
Strange how you never become
The person you see when you're young
