Tonight [livejournal.com profile] caflygrl and I went to see the above-mentioned movie. Their first marketing mistake was making the title 10 words long so no one can remember it. The second was giving away the ending in the title! ;)

Actually I quite enjoyed the movie, though it was long (perhaps to match the 10-word title? - sorry I just can't get over that) I didn't find myself wondering "Is it over yet?" in the middle. I don't think I can say the same for many of the other people in the theater. A few people got up and left in the middle.

What can I say? My taste in movies is not what you would describe as 'mainstream'. I thought the acting was very good and the cinematography was beautiful. Casey Affleck was *adorable* (but that is my taste in men, slightly awkward and very boyish). And of course crazy and somewhat evil. Yeah...

Today I went to trade in my cable box for another (working) one.

See, when I tried to use my cable it would work for about 1 minute, then go all static-y and make loud interference noises. The dude on the phone told me to take it into the service center to exchange for another.

The service centers are only open limited hours, so today was the first chance I had to take it in. I did and was told that they couldn't replace it because they didn't make that box anymore and only had HD DVR boxes that would cost an extra $12 a month.

I asked if it was possible to get one of those for the same price I had been paying since I was returning a defective box and didn't have any use for an HD box as I don't have an HD TV. The woman said only a supervisor could do that and there were no supervisors there so I'd have to call.

I called, the woman on the phone said that the reason there were no normal DVR boxes was because there were problems with them and they were redesigning them to comply with FCC regulations. I asked her about getting an HD box for the same price as my current box, explaining again that I do not have an HD TV. She said they could credit me the difference for one month only. I asked if I could pay my current price until a new regular DVR was available and switch it back. She said no.

I canceled my account.

This is completely ridiculous. Comcast has issues and can't make a working DVR so they expect me to pay $12 more a month for the exact same service? WHAT?!?
