Just for fun...
[Poll #605482]
To explain: I often have problems in Boston with milk, like the following conversation:
Me: I'd like a Chai with nonfat milk, please.
Barista Boy: Oh, sorry, we don't have skim milk.
Me: Um...
BB: We have regular milk, soy milk, and fat free milk.
Me: Ok, I'll take fat free milk.
BB: Really? OK.
So I asked some Boston-ites about this, and apparently here skim=1% low-fat=2% and nonfat is called fat free. Kinda like how a milkshake doesn't contain ice cream and chocolate sprinkles are called Jimmies. The first woman I talked to actually asked me what we call 1% on the west coast, since we don't call it skim. Um... 1%?
